Location--access
Vaison-la-Romaine is located in southern France in the Vaucluse
departement, just east of the Rhone River, 2 hours north of
the Mediterranean, along the Ouvèze River (see
maps.) Vaison is a sophisticated town, and many Parisians
and foreigners call it home, at least for part of the year.
The locals are very friendly and courteous to visitors. Vaison
has important Roman ruins (hence its name "la Romaine")
Coming from the north, Paris is a 2 hour 40 min trip by
TGV to Avignon, then a one hour drive north from the Avignon
TGV station; or a half hour from the Orange TGV station.
The Lyon airport (i.e. Saint-Exupéry) is a three hour
drive south to Vaison.
From the south, Vaison is a 1.5 hour drive north from the
Marseille Airport (i.e. Marignane.)
The apartment complex (10 units) is located on the Avenue
Victor Hugo, a main street that extends northeast from the
main town square, the Place Montfort. However the apartment
is very quiet since it is not located on the main street,
but towards the back of the complex.
